History/Background

Family owned and operated for fifty years, Plastool stands by the old-fashioned values of honesty, reliability and personal service; but there’s nothing old-fashioned about their state-of-the-art facilities and top-notch technical staff.

After serving the plastics industry for half a century, Plastool is now expanding its 3D machining expertise to provide precision engineering & tooling solutions to the wider manufacturing industry.

Established 1956 by Herbert Down, Plastool was a pioneer in the plastics industry.  Business grew, and Plastool was soon providing solutions to the world’s leading companies in the plastics & automotive industries.

Herbert Down’s sons Gary & Andrew have carried the company forward, currently serving as executive directors.

Plastool recently expanded into a purpose-built 4550 square meter facility in Mordialloc, in Melbourne’s Southeast.  The factory was officially opened in February 2003 by State Minister for Manufacturing & Export the Hon. Tim Holding.

Plastool understands their customers’ needs for reliable, timely supply, and has invested in the development of their own job-scheduling software system, ensuring the most efficient and reliable production.
